Acting Camps and Workshops for kids

I do not recommend taking classes at any camp or program that makes ridiculous claims of children booking legitimate work in show business after attending their overpriced classes. Some actors who own or associate themselves with these schools or workshops use the fact that your children recognize them from popular TV shows to cover the fact that they are offering overpriced services. A quality acting class in Los Angeles will range in price from $150 - $300 a month, for 4 classes. If you are paying more than $75 (and that's at the very high end) per 3-4 hour weekly class, you are paying too much. Most classes for kids are on the low end of $25 - $50 a class. Private acting or singing coaching will range in price from about $80/hr. to $150/hr. (which is on the high end). If you are serious about learning the skills necessary to become a working actor, do your research and stick to recommended and well-respected acting teachers and programs. The best people to ask about classes and coaching are working actors. If you don't know any, ask around because someone you know will surely know a working actor in New York or Los Angeles who can steer you in the right direction.
